Ideas

Jack Sjogren of Hyperallergic made a short comic comparing ideas to food:

  1. Having an idea is like buying groceries.
  2. If it’s a meaty or cheesy idea (especially then), you must use it before long or it will go bad.
  3. If you just go around telling everyone about it without actually doing something with it, it’ll lose its magic.1
  4. If you keep buying more and more food, but never use it, you’ll starve and everything will spoil.
  5. The best broths are slow-cooked, but even they were put over a low flame at some point with a specific goal in mind.
  6. It’s good to keep an emergency stash in the cupboard, but we must use your ideas before they expire.
